The Gardeners / Moon Patrol - CD (Used)
Author: The Gardeners
Release Date: 04-24-2001
Details: Amazon.ca For this second album of electronic music with spatial atmospheres, Jean-François Charette and Martin Dumais have moved away from the disco reminiscences of Cafeteria, their first opus, to return to their musical roots, closer to the 80s. Attention, nothing to do with Duran Duran or Culture Club… In Moon Patrol, we have the impression of recognizing the shadow of Kraftwerk in "Tour de glace" (and its sounds of kicking skates), Ennio Morricone in the opening piece ("West World") or Giorgio Moroder in "Alpine Fever" and "Airport". The less intensive use of sampling accentuates this impression, like the return to "real" instruments like the guitar. Result: a happy mixture of electro, techno, house and even rock (as evidenced by the piece "Freelance"), which allows Les Jardiniers to cast a wide net while shattering the forms and conventions of dance music. Not bad for an album recorded in a chalet in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, in the heart of Quebec… -- Éric Parazelli
