Evidenced by Captured Alive, which restores for posterity the last of the eight evenings he offered solo, in the winter of 2002, during a residency at the Cabaret Music Hall in Montreal. It was enough for our city cowboy to redo in particular \"Cajun of the year 2000\", \"Waltz-hesitation\", \"If I had a tank\", \"Always a bum\" and \"My big black horse of love\", already so skillfully rendered on the original albums. While his previous opus, Tessons d'auréole, offered a nice counterpoint with his fully orchestrated swing songs, here, it's the pleasure of playing his guitar (the piano of the first evenings, out of order, was discarded ), this crazy freedom of every moment, which takes precedence. The excellent sound recording serves the intimate side of the show admirably. The game turned out to be perilous, however, and Faulkner pulls it off remarkably well: not all artists manage to bring their music to life once stripped of the original arrangements.
