Details: Amazon.ca The unprecedented success of the comedy La Petite Vie – some episodes have exceeded the two million viewer mark – is a social phenomenon. Between scathing cynicism and the most unbridled ridicule, the characters of the Paré family, Popa, Moman and their deranged children, have, each week, pushed back the limits of verisimilitude. La Grande Collection de La Petite Vie presents the entirety of this cult series written by Claude Meunier, who also stars there along with his former accomplice of Ding and Dong, Serge Thériault. The great moments of La Petite Vie, served by actors in excellent shape, are innumerable: Popa (Meunier) and Moman (Thériault) cooing in their vertical bed; Moman, nightcap matching her “flannel jacket”, deep in conversation with the cooking turkey; Rénald singing La Bamba to his devastated family. They are all there: Caro (Guylaine Tremblay) the rebel, Rénald and Lison (Marc Labrèche and Josée Deschênes) the conformists, Réjean (Marc Messier) the womanizer, Thérèse (Diane Lavallée), panicked by a recipe for shepherd's pie, and Rod (Bernard Fortin) the man-child. Without forgetting some delightful secondary characters, such as the French couple visiting the Paré family or Popa's mother, who carefully shaves her beard every morning. As the surging wave of Quebec comedians later proved, the practice of absurd humor is an art that is extremely difficult to master. In this respect, La Petite Vie proves to be an absolute reference. --Anne-Marie Cloutier
