LIKE A ROCK by Bob Seger, DOCK OF THE BAY by Otis Redding, JET AIRLINER by the Steve Miller band or even JOHN THE REVELATOR, a traditional gospel (which MARTIN DESCHAMPS performs a capella by stamping his foot to beat time) are all songs that rocked his childhood and that still stick to his skin today. SOULSHINE was recorded in his own studio in Rawdon with the collaboration of young prodigy RICKY PAQUETTE who plays all the instruments on the album in addition to having arranged, produced, mixed and mastered everything. The musical talent of this guitarist is quite fantastic as evidenced by the whole work. DESCHAMPS made his mark playing slide guitar on YOU GOTTA MOVE, a blues classic recorded in 1965 by Mississippi Fred McDowell and later popularized by the Rolling Stones. He also calls on his long-time accomplice, ANGEL FORREST (four-time recipient of the award: Singer of the Year at the Canadian Maple Blues Award) who comes to accompany him on the piece BLACK GIRL. This first totally English-speaking project gives him access to a new audience and is likely to open doors for him on an international market.
