In addition to his obvious production skills, this multi-talented artist was also previously the lead vocalist for the Philosopher Kings in the early ’90s. Back in the mix and dropping his own debut (another Track \u0026amp; Field production), Church is looking for a taste of the same success he helped Furtado achieve. And, in fact, he has even enlisted Furtado’s aid on the sexy “Fine Line.” Not that Church needs much help.\nShake it Off is an old-school, soulful pop album reminiscent of Lenny Kravitz’s early work, but with a slightly updated sound. Thankfully, though, Church keeps that sound organic, not trying to dilute the soul and emotion with pointless, booming hip-hop beats. There’s even an occasional smoky guitar solo, like on the sultry “That Old Love Song.” But this album is all about Church’s ample talents as a singer\/songwriter.
