Macy, Fargo), Danielle's independent streak crumbles and she takes Clarke on a road trip to find her actual father. Dirty Girl is rough around the edges, but it has a powerful emotional core. The road-trip/searching-for-a-lost-parent story has its familiar signposts, but the smart and funny script is coupled with excellent performances from the young leads and the seasoned supporting cast (also featuring Mary Steenburgen and Dwight Yoakam as Clarke's conflicted parents). A few scenes try too hard and miss the emotional mark, but it's more than made up for by what works tremendously well. Anyone, gay or straight, who grew up feeling lost and confused will find Dirty Girl genuinely affecting. Dirty Girl is the story of Danielle (Juno Temple), the dirty girl of Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma, circa 1987. When Danielle’s misbehavior gets her banished to a remedial class, she is paired on a parenting project with Clarke (Jeremy Dozier), an innocent closet-case with no friends. Danielle is determined to get to California to find the father she’s never met, and Clarke is desperate to escape being sent to military school by his homophobic dad. Together, the mismatched misfits light out for California, and discover each other and themselves through a funny and serendipitous friendship. Dirty Girl raconte l’histoire de Danielle (Juno Temple), la dévergondée de Norman High School en Oklahoma, aux alentours de 1987. Lorsque forcée de se joindre à un groupe de redressement à cause de sa mauvaise conduite, elle se voit jumelée à un dénommé Clarke (Jeremy Dozier), un jeune homme innocent et renfermé sans ami, dans le cadre d’un projet scolaire. Danielle est déterminée à se rendre en Californie afin d’y retrouver le père qu’elle n’a jamais connu, alors que Clarke veut à tout prix s’épargner l’école militaire que son père homophobe veut le forcer à fréquenter. Ces deux marginaux personnages prennent donc ensemble la route de la Californie. Ils découvriront qui ils sont et apprendront à connaître l’autre au cours ce périple où est née une amusante amitié fortuite.
