Details: Amazon.ca Not that we would dream of applying the word "formulaic" to the film, but outline of Tom Hanks + Meg Ryan + love/hate relationship might be just a tad predictable. George Fenton might just have thought so, because here's an effortlessly predictable score that presses your every emotion button perfectly. It's an exercise in piano whimsy, with a small bouncing ensemble lapping up the opportunity to get very schmaltzy indeed. When you're incorporating "Over The Rainbow" into the body of your score, it's a sure-fire sign there's no need to roll out a booming percussion section. Getting "Butterflies In The Subway" at the start, and thinking "If Only" at the end, this is a gentle piece of floatiness. Being such a romantic writer (check his excellent heart-on-the-sleeve scores for Ever After and Shadowlands), this is right up George Fenton's boulevard. --Paul Tonks Product Description Various Artists
