Details: Product Description Pierre Lapointe Amazon.ca We already knew that Pierre Lapointe was cut from the cloth of the greats. His previous self-titled album, rooted in the tradition of French singers, was surprising for its strangely offbeat universe. We had our fingers crossed that he wouldn't repeat himself. He did more than just keep his promises. La forêt des mal-aimés is a great album where all the influences have been not only digested, but reinterpreted into a unique style. As if he were literally reinventing French chanson, much like Thomas Fersen or Vincent Delerm did a few years ago. Superb melodies, solid harmonies, lyrics as poetic and personal as one could wish for, here is a forêt des mal-aimés where one could spend their entire life. Lapointe (who now goes by his last name only) sings like no one else of childhood memories, unhappy love, or the beauty of a beloved face in carefully chosen words, wrapped in sound arrangements where violins drown in waves of electro. This results in songs that are as catchy as they are absolutely singular. Great art. -- Pascale Millot
