Author: Dupain
Format: Import
Release Date: 04-27-2004
Details: After a more than promising first opus, Dupain returns with his Mediterranean trance now enriched with a bass player and the significant presence of Bumcello. Exit the samples, which therefore leave an even greater part to the acoustics and the melodies of Pierre-Louis Bertolino's hurdy-gurdy. This group from Marseilles broadens its horizons, and we now feel the strong influence of flamenco in the inhabited psalmodies of the Occitan Samuel Karpienia. Never do these modern-day troubadours sink into exotic folklorism, carving out simply moving texts served by a mandolin that evokes Italy. As for the excellent sound recording, it was entrusted to Jean-Pierre Sluys, who we know for his work alongside Bill Laswell. A very nice path has been traveled since the previous album. --Hervé Comte
