Yelo Molo / Listen! - CDs
SKU: MPM2-1212
The first meeting took place at Cégep Joliette-de Lanaudière in 1992. There were Yanick, Stéphane, Mustang and Cock Hot. During the years that followed, Stéphane initiated the Yelo Molo project, which was more a search for style, sound, identity and experimentation than a defined project. Then, in 1997 at UQÀM, Stéphane met Sébastien during their math class and the latter joined the original line-up with Dave and they added a brassy Hubertain sound to Molo rock. The same year, Yelo finally brings together the three other Lanaudois met at CEGEP to continue the Yelo project. At this time, several other musicians touch the band, this one performing with ten musicians on the same stage. In December 1998, Yelo distinguished himself as a finalist in the fiery Empire of Future Stars competition. During this period, the formation puts the priority on its original work while continuing the interpretation of known works (covers). The week after Empire, the group set out to produce its first album without looking for investors… no artistic compromise had to be made! After having restructured the group to six members (they were ten at the contest), Yelo recorded his first album "Listening!" with Joe Petrella at Le Divan Vert studio. The recording ends while the meeting with Karine takes place. Originally from Vaudreuil, Karine joined the group until the fall of 2003, at which time the group returned to its formation of six happy lads!
The group has also recorded two other albums, "Méli-Molo" and "Snooze", in addition to launching a box set bringing together their dynamic discography.
