Details: Product Description After launching an acoustic album (recorded during his 2004 tour), the Quebecois singer/songwriter returns with his new opus, proposing new 'organic' songs, home-made and created in a more traditional way. Amazon.ca It starts with a beautiful ballad, spoken more than sung, which evokes in a few simple sentences the memory of a "damn fine bike" that, as a child, Michel Rivard would ride through the streets of Montreal North. "Robinoude" could have heralded the trip of a nostalgic fifty-year-old. That will not be the case. Michel Rivard did well to trust himself, because this is undoubtedly one of his most successful, most self-assured albums. He goes further than ever into intimacy: love, fatherhood, childhood, memory, the anxiety of loss. His writing here has the elegant simplicity of poetry that hits the mark. Finely chiseled, the melodies—superb piano, sensitive guitars, striking percussion—are almost always gentle. Yet they carry something a little more raw than what Rivard has accustomed us to on other albums. As if, in short, he had trusted himself more. Here is a simple, beautiful, sincere record to listen to again for a long time. --Pascale Millot
