Details: Product Description Various Artists Amazon.ca It was to be expected: given its success, the radio show Les Refrains d’abord, on Radio-Canada, has been adapted for record, thanks to the happy initiative of its host Monique Giroux, a fan of Francophone song. Once a month, Giroux brings together performers, actors, and a few plumbers—amateurs who become singers for a night—around a legend of song. Precious moments from the 1998-2000 vintage, recorded at the Cabaret Music-Hall in Montreal, are found on this warm Cabaret des refrains. Lucille Dumont, who masterfully sings Ferré, makes us regret her rare presence on our stages. Daniel Boucher provides a pleasant surprise with his cover of Fugain. The dearly departed Dédé Fortin, Sylvain Lelièvre, and actor Jean-Louis Millette take a lovely turn on stage that here takes on the value of an archive. Even the host joins in by impersonating Dalida. Some approximate vocals in no way tarnish this delicious and infinitely likable undertaking. For the pleasure of chance encounters between timeless tracks and fervent performers. --Diane Jean
