Details: Amazon.ca Un monde à l'envers reveals a Bruno Pelletier at a crossroads, torn between pop variety and lyrical songwriting. The singer brought together renowned collaborators, including Charles Aznavour, Daniel Lavoie, and Roger Tabra, and obtained permission to perform "Le Plus Beau Concerto," a superb, previously unreleased track by Léo Ferré. Despite this all-star team, Pelletier did not always manage to define his musical direction or find the arrangements that showcase his 16 tracks. Aznavour's "Je pars en voyage" perishes under insipid and pandering arrangements, while "Il fera toi" loses its way between jazz and country. Conversely, when the performer avoids vocal gymnastics and syrupy flights of fancy and favors balanced orchestrations, he delivers the best of himself. The restrained and touching "Marie rêve," the effective "Laisse brûler ta vie," and the solid "Je crois pourtant…" are among the fine tracks in his repertoire. -- Nicolas Houle
