Details: Amazon.ca L'Album du peuple brings together humorous capsules produced by François Pérusse and broadcast on the radio in the early 1990s. Sometimes parodic, sometimes absurd, these sketches dwell on subjects as diverse as the media, song, culture or the consumption. Pérusse embodies different roles, manipulating and accelerating his voice by technical means in order to give the illusion of a multiplicity of characters and to get closer to the world of cartoons. A pretext for laughter and many puns, these little stories are also an opportunity for the comedian to take a sometimes amused, sometimes scathing look at society. This first album, however, does not include the best sketches of Pérusse: the voices, high-pitched, irritate, the gags sometimes lack an effective fall and the humorous songs offer little interest. The album nevertheless gives a glimpse of the efficiency and unbridled humor of volumes 2 and 3. --Nicolas Houle
