Details: Returning home from a night out, surgeon Richard Kimble finds his wife fatally injured. The attacker, a penguin, is still at the scene. He and Richard fight, and the man runs away. All suspicion falls on Kimble. The first minutes of the film are gripping, and we are caught up in the whirlwind of action that follows, without ever relaxing for a moment. The director, Andrew Davis, manages to balance shock scenes and psychology perfectly. As such, the parallel progressions of the cop and the alleged criminal, until their final meeting, are perfectly rendered, and carried out with flying colors by the interpreters. Andrew Davis skilfully departs, through the staging, from the traditional framework of American crime fiction, which is often too conventional, and this from the very first images. A great moment of tension for fans of the genre. --Louis Roux
