Details: Product Description The Future Sound of Rhumba from the Remnants of Mano Negra. Also features Appearances by Femi Kuti. Amazon.ca Last we heard from P18, the collective was playing their electro-salsa formula live in concert halls around the world. A funny adventure, lived with 10 musicians and dancers during which the group transported on stage the energy which inhabits its approach. From these live experiences, the leader of the group, Tom Darnal (ex-Mano Negra), wanted to preserve the wild strength of the collective, the improvised fiesta and the intimacy between the musicians joined by many high-ranking guests (the sax Fémi Kuti, the percussionists Amadito Valdes and Isquierdo Lopez or the singer RE Hernandez Alvarez) came to play the game for a few titles. To design Electropica, 2nd mature and successful album, P18 has therefore gone in search of the ideal balance between this live power, the extraordinary artistic possibilities of this mix between electronics and Afro and Cuban traditions, and the sound rigor essential not to distort the freshness of this new merger. Thus, from the jungle-funk "Latin Funk Overseas" to the big-beat top "Mi Rumba" passing by the deep afro-beat "Candele", the integrity of the sound of the barrio has been preserved; electro has put itself at the service of bata drums, the outlet of rumbas has been maintained at its maximum ("Energia Solar", "Mi Rumba"), salsa has been reinforced in its original roughness and trance has been rebuilt in the spirit of Santeria ceremonies under deep-house, dub or breakbeat influences. --Luc Demont
