Details: Amazon.ca Alice Tremblay leads an uneventful life. A single-parent mother, she devotes herself entirely to her daughter and, every evening, she reads her tales to put her to sleep. One evening, in the middle of a reading session, everything changes. Alone, in pajamas, Alice finds herself in a world that no longer has anything to do with reality... In her third feature film, actress and director Denise Filiatrault (C't'à ton tour, Laura Cadieux and Laura Cadieux… the sequel) sends Alice not to wonderland, but to an equally crazy universe. Its heroine rubs shoulders with a not quite virtuous Snow White, intervenes in a crazy version of Little Red Riding Hood, falls in love with a handsome but macho prince and remains insensitive to the discreet charm of Ludovic, aspiring prince charming. And she dreads the Carabosse fairy, just as mean but much funnier than the first. Filiatrault chose to star her daughter Sophie Lorain in a comedic job she hadn't accustomed her audience to. The result is happy: the actress excels once again and reveals the same famous sense of timing as her mother. The cast full of audience favorites (Marc Labrèche, Martin Drainville and Pierrette Robitaille) and local celebrities (Denise Bombardier as the Queen) adds to the good-natured side of the ensemble. Despite some pretty big strings and some repetitive gags, L'Odyssée d'Alice Tremblay can be seen with great pleasure. Adults will appreciate the re-reading of some well-known tales and children will be happily carried away into a world where the imagination is in power. --Anne-Marie Cloutier
