Details: Amazon.ca "Bye bye clouds, welcome sun/I've been waiting for you all day…" A few tunes of acoustic guitar and jew's harp à la Jim, the tender words and songs of Bertrand, and here we are La Tête jig! Jim Corcoran and Bertrand Gosselin's third album, which in 1978 won the prize for best folk record at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, was reissued in 1999. We find the joyful simplicity of this duo from from the Quebec "flower power" era (Harmonium, Les Séguin, Beau Dommage). We also meet some legendary characters: the man and his guitar hosted by strangers in a house on a hill ("Séjour à Stoke"), a beautiful woman raped in the fields when she had left to find her lover (" The Beauty of the Fields"). The mandolin, the Irish flute ("Miroir d'hiver") and the banjo ("Folie d'hier") in turn punctuate the melodies close to folklore, and the complex vocal harmonies and sometimes tinged with the English accent of Corcoran are flawless there. An unpretentious classic, delivered by an "eminently likeable" duo, as Jim himself puts it. --Marie-Eve Cousineau Product Description Jim Corcoran
