Details: "Le film", Philippe Katerine's new album, is unconsciously a return to basics: to this makeshift minimalism which, at the time, reinitialized French song in depth and lightness. This new album is made up of 16 songs, which he sang at the top of his voice and improvised at the wheel of his car during a fantastic crossing of France; songs that he finally chose to record in the studio, in the order of their appearance in his head, like so many scenes from a film... Obviously touching, burlesque and intimate. In the credits, Katerine at the piano, accompanied by her accomplice Julien Baer. It is a singular record, with a Katerine, concentrated and relaxed, sometimes reminiscent of the forgotten chansonniers of before pop, even for the French melody of before the war of 14. On this tenth album, Katerine now sings as he draws (he himself illustrated the cover, as well as each song on this new disc), the vocal line flies freely but remains precise, sharp and clever. This album, mental film for the ears, constitutes a new strong gesture, radical but open to all.
