The Lion Tames
Author: Dube, Jean-Francois
Format: Remixes included
Release Date: 17-10-2005
Details: Amazon.ca Released after the artist's long absence, Jean-François Dubé's first solo album is a logical follow-up to the work undertaken with the group Noir Silence. The Tamed Lion presents the singer in a pop rock context, but also in a more folk register to which he had not accustomed us. Although he displays a new maturity, Dubé nevertheless lacks originality and finds it difficult to free himself from music with conventional structures and arrangements. His texts, a little clumsy and naive, are also disappointing. Too bad, because his innate sense of melody and his scratchy voice, which betrays his passionate temperament, could serve his talent better. A frankness to which one cannot remain insensitive emerges in fact from Dubé's writing, notably in “La Rue des Oblats” or “La Foire de Bury”. A pleasant album despite its shortcomings, The Tamed Lion will appeal to a wide audience. --Nicolas Houle Product Description Dube, Jean-Francois
