Details: Product Description of Love, France Amazon.ca An excellent guitarist and emeritus backing vocalist, France D'Amour looks back on her 10-year career with Nomad, part compilation, part new album, mostly ballads. Texts by Francis Basset, Roger Tabra (Éric Lapointe) and Lynda Lemay give pride of place to the fragility of the singer. Several of the pieces presented, such as "J'ai plus ma place" and "Ailleurs", have already proven themselves on the radio. There is also an acoustic version of a song from his first album, "Solitaire", a rather weak cover of "The heart is a bird", by Richard Desjardins, some unreleased songs, including "Bohémienne", from the musical Notre-Dame de Paris, in which D'Amour triumphed. The lady knows how to surround herself: here, the gifted guitarist Steve Hill performs his chords, there, the Quatuor Claudel makes his strings vibrate. So much talent could have given a remarkable cake, but the arrangements are agreed, the whole is very smooth and wise. Where is the hoarse grain of the wild singer of the beginnings? The red lioness seems tamed, delivering a release that will delight fans but disappoint others. -- Diana Jean
