Térez Montcalm / Terez Montcalm - CD (Used)
Author: Montcalm, Térez
Release Date: 22-10-2002
Details: Amazon.ca His harsh voice, recognizable among a thousand, has not always won fans: the third self-titled album by Térez Montcalm should win over those who were irritated by his sometimes outrageous vocal ways. More caressing, the singer-guitarist seems to have gained in maturity and sensuality since the publication of Parle pas si fort, in 1997. These five years have enabled the composer to perfect her singing and learn the double bass, which she plays nicely. in a successful cover of "La Foule", by Piaf. R'n'b, French song, jazz, funk, blues: Montcalm combines influences in this first production, assisted by the brothers Dominique and Sylvain Grand (Lili Fatale, Bran Van 3000). On the text side, she delivers her reflections on the loss of love ("Inconsolable"), the rage of ruptures ("L'Œil du cyclone") or her passion for the profession (the moving "La Scène"), while knowing how to be lighter at times ("By bike"). Less agitated, the singer with the broken voice plays finesse without losing an ounce of her composure. --Diane John
