Details: Réal Béland and his sidekick Stéphane K. Lefebvre, two wacky and provocative reporters, go to the city of Tokyo to measure the tolerance and sense of humor of the Japanese. Sometimes costumed with chiselled and repeated stagings, sometimes unexpectedly and sometimes in collusion with other actors and local contributors, they will make madness appear where no one has ever seen it. In Our Neighbors Dhantsu, Réal and Stéphane take a fragmented and marginal look at an orderly and mysterious modest society, under the lens of a lively camera that contrasts with order and discipline. This film depicts unexpectedly chaotic and occasionally delirious situations, where the history, myths and culture of Japan, as well as the daily reality of Tokyo, are confronted with derision. A dynamic and different vision of the Japanese universe. DVD includes the original French version and English version (subtitles/dubbing), a "making of" of the opening, the experience in Japan, deleted sketches and unseen moments. Quebec comedians Réal Béland and Stéphane K. Lefebvre take off for the land of the rising sun, Japan. In Our Dhantsu Neighbors, they prove once again that our culture is too different to take on. Their travelogue, mostly limited to Tokyo, is at times well-planned and executed in tightly rehearsed situations, sometimes the scenes use local actors and crew, and then at other times the film erupts in the complete craziness of improvisational comedy. Our neighbors Dhantsu captures Béland's view of an ordered, modest and mysterious society, often by challenging the stereotypical order and discipline that we think of when we think of Japan. DVD includes the original French version and English version (subtitled/dubbed), a making of, "the Japan experience", deleted sketches and moments.
