Details: Product Description Bet.e. & Stef Amazon.ca After selling no fewer than 50,000 copies of their first self-produced album, the Quebec neo-bossa duo Bet.e. & Stef makes a grand entrance with jazz giant Verve. Day By Day proves to be the ideal antidote to autumn melancholy, transporting us to the beaches of Rio with azure-tinted tracks, caressed by the evanescent, grainy voice of Élizabeth Provencher and the reassuring, placid one of Stéphane Carreau. The young pair masters the Portuguese language as if they had always sung it—harmonious and sensual. More than just a simple tribute to Brazil, Day By Day surprises with its rich orchestration and irresistible elegance. The arrangements by Michel Pépin (Emmylou Harris, Rufus Wainwright) give the whole an impression of completion down to the most intimate details. The duo also incorporated two songs in French, "Il n'aurait fallu" (Aragon/Ferré) and "Vagabond" (Henri Salvador), a seductive initiative that bodes well for the future. A sure bet. -- Claude Côté
