Details: Amazon.ca An album by Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson, considered one of his masterpieces. We find him in his favorite formula of the trio (in the company of drummer Ed Thigpen who succeeded guitarist Herb Ellis in 1958 and his double bassist Ray Brown) for a series of airy and sharp compositions in which happy covers of Duke Ellington or Count Basie. Peterson is the leader and you can hear it: the architecture of the compositions revolves around the dynamic parts of his playing, characterized by an irresistible "swing". He has sometimes been criticized for a few "clichés" agreed in his practice, implementing more a sense of "drive" than a real sensitivity. His detractors have to agree, however, that Peterson carried out his execution with staggering precision of attack and articulation. As for the sensitivity, it is real and palpable here: the pianist bet his playing as much on the harmonies as on the melodies. --Eric Frank Product Description Oscar Peterson Trio
