Details: Amazon.ca Bécassine leaves her beloved Brittany and arrives in Paris to take care of Charlotte. The mother of the latter, married to Edmond, a photographer gone on a report to the North Pole, is about to leave for Venice to participate in a sculpture competition. But Bécassine and Charlotte will soon be dragged into an adventure full of twists and turns, from Marseille to Spain via Lapland to try to unravel the mystery of Edmond's disappearance. Adapted from the famous comic book of the same name, Bécassine takes us back to an outdated France, while slightly modernizing the adventures of the most famous of Breton women. Spinning animation, incessant twists and judicious dubbing – Muriel Robin excels in the title role – make this animated film an exemplary success, which proves (once again) that French studios can largely compete with Disney productions when they give themselves the means – right down to the songs, interpreted here by Enzo Enzo, Clarika or Zabou Breitman. The DVD, teeming with exciting bonuses, will convince the skeptics and above all will delight the youngest, who will discover a new friend, with an old-fashioned and charming headdress and uniform. --David Rault
