After the pyramids of Egypt on Powerslave, Eddie, the undead whose effigy adorns all the covers of the group, finds himself immersed in a futuristic universe à la Blade Runner and this is not without incidence on its content. No doubt taking their word for the critics who had reproached them for sticking to the well-established formula that had made their success, Iron Maiden placed Somewhere In Time under the sign of innovation: guitar-synths thus made their appearance , on record as on stage, alongside the good old electric guitars.
