Details: Amazon.ca Don't listen to that revealed a sixty-year-old Jean-Pierre Ferland at the top of his game. Recorded in 1995 in his sugar shack, in Saint-Norbert, this magnificent album gives the listener the impression of having slipped into this country house, alongside a Ferland who would show him the world map of his heart. . The acoustic musical coating, provided essentially by the six expert strings of Alain Leblanc and Bob Cohen, reinforces this feeling of intimacy. Generous, even immodest, the singer-songwriter draws attention to the marks that a life of excess has dug on his face ("After Shave"), on his "28 open wounds and 82 bumps". However, his heart which beat too fast and too strong remains immense, and it is above all the love that this eternal romantic sings here: love of women (the title song, "Une chance qu'on s'a" ), roots ("Envoye à maison"), music ("La Musique")... Far from any mercantile "cheesy", the artist invites us to a true profession of faith in love. "The good Lord who makes Ireland and Bosnia / To apologize / He makes lovers", he suggests in "It takes lovers". Well took it, the good Lord also made Ferland. --Frederic Murphy
