Details: Amazon.ca There is no doubt that Isabelle Boulay is a great singer. Was it relevant, after only three albums, to launch a compilation of his songs? Listening to Her Plus Belles Histoires reveals that it is, since the singer with red hair and a gravelly voice has revisited her successes in the studio, delivering versions fairly faithful to the originals, but with renewed arrangements. We added violin and acoustic guitars, shortened certain passages, improved the voice. Thanks to this dusting, some songs have improved, in particular those of his first opus Fallait pas ("And my heart takes full mouth", "J'enrage"), stripped of their too radiophonic coating. The great interest of this album lies above all in the covers of "Vole colombe", "Perce les clouds" and "Ailes des hirondelles", three great classics composed respectively by Lévis Boulianne, Paul Daraîche and Zachary Richard. A superb way to come full circle for the singer, who thus reconnects with her country and folk roots, and to rediscover her authentic and warm side, which is often lost when she gives in to variety.
