Details: Product Description Malajube Amazon.ca Happy surprise of the year 2004, Malajube's first album, The complete account, had amazed critics and rock fans. This is certainly one of the best bands on the current Montreal scene. Energy, originality, depth and passion inhabit this second disc in the form of Optical illusion. Trompe-l'oeil of the superb cover with the appearance of a flower-lung-butterfly; trompe-l'oeil of the texts which, under a somewhat obscure, eccentric or daring exterior, all hide a story of… disease. Yes, the intense Malajube singer, Julien Mineau, willingly admits to being a hypochondriac. To breathe freshness and vitality into this universe which could prove to be suffocating, the four trendy boys cook in their corner a hyper-energetic music where the instrumentation and the vocal harmonies have gained in sophistication compared to the previous disc. All without the help of any multinational since the formation has chosen to remain faithful to the small independent company Dare to Care Records. To concoct this unclassifiable album, the group called on Valérie Jodoin-Keaton, keyboardist of the Dears, Pierre Lapointe and Loco Locass. Nothing less. The result is a funny musical object that has not finished making people talk about it. --Pascale Millot
