Inevitably dark, the album relies more on atmospheres than on melodies and offers often gray texts, with the allure of catharsis ("What's the point of thinking about you"). If they are not easily tamed, the 10 songs of Vu d'ici are nonetheless very interesting, presenting the Quebec singer-songwriter in a musical context that was unfamiliar to him. His unique voice is sometimes discreet. The neat arrangements remain sober and the words, always mastered: "I will go or I will not go/For my soles are full of lead/And my sleep is full of gold."
