Skipping from the merry folk of the title track to the electric rock of "American TV" to Mann's twisted take on love ("Love's a Sobbing Idiot," "Our Sick Love"), Kitty consistently scores high marks with well-crafted tunes, smart lyrics (check out the humorous slice of Albertan life in "Red Deer?") and a back-in-the-saddle vitality that gives it a leg up on the competition. --Shawn Conner
