Hawksley Workman / Last Night We Were the Delicious Wolves - CD (Used)
Author: Hawksley Workman
Format: Remixes included
Release Date: 06-03-2001
Details: Amazon.ca What initially made Hawksley Workman such a singular talent was his willingness to be a different kind of singer-songwriter. The studio-drummer-turned-cabaret-crooner's 1999 debut, For Him and the Girls, seemed to come out of nowhere and sounded like nothing else in Canadian pop. 2001's (Last Night We Were) the Delicious Wolves is a different matter entirely. Eschewing the wildly lyrical, musically subtle tone of his debut, Workman chooses a much more straightforward approach here. Songs like "Striptease," "Jealous of Your Cigarette" and "Your Beauty Must Be Rubbing Off" bristle with power-rock swagger. The delicate touch of old is, sadly, nowhere to be found beyond the stirring, Jeff Buckley-ish "No Beginning No End." (Last Night We Were) the Delicious Wolves is still a unique-sounding record, but considering what Workman proved himself capable of on his debut, it has to be seen as a disappointment. --Matt Galloway Product Description The Canadian troubadour's 2001 album.
