Entirely English album, Higher illustrates this evolution well with his acoustic ballads, his texts as optimistic as agreed and his more rhythmic pieces, although never disturbing enough to alienate the radio waves. By dint of sticking to market requirements and current trends, with its electronic rhythms and choruses that evoke a thousand others, Higher does not shine with its originality. But if the composer of "Hélène" opts for a path already traveled with his American pop mixed with folk, we can not blame him for not doing his job well. His songs are all the more polished that he knew how to surround himself with an excellent team, in particular the old studio wolf Peter John Vettese (Jethro Tull), the director-guitarist Marc Pérusse (Luc De Larochellière), Jeff Smallwood on six strings and the London Session Orchestra. Higher thus remains an honest release with good passages, such as "Since You Left" and "Tears in my Coffee".
