Details: Product Description The Chango Family is the antidote to prescribe in case of depression. At a time when everyone is looking for a panacea for the ills of the soul, this family like no other hits the spot with its festive tunes, hot rhythms and contagious madness. Their goal is disarmingly simple: they want to put some sun in the ''corazons''! Amazon.ca Even if it walks in the footsteps of Mano Negra, Les Négresses Vertes and Lo'Jo, the composite pop of La Chango Family is at ease in the bohemian environment, open to the world and a bit calculated of the Plateau- Mont Royal. With its joyful ratatouille of reggae, African and Latin rhythms, French song and gypsy spirit, perfumed with a fleeting aroma of the Orient, the Quebec troupe takes up the eclecticism that had made Les Colocs stand out. . The winners of the 2001 Francouvertes, who sign their first album here, however, have a heavier hand than the band at Dédé when it comes to measuring out the ingredients. The tendency of the singer and lyricist Lundo to shell Spanish and English words in his French-speaking poetry, for example, perhaps denotes an excessive desire to "do multiculturalism". And his left-wing discourse does not always avoid preaching to converts... Should we therefore ignore the pleasure provided by the sunny, if not downright solar, pop of this lit collective? Certainly not ! Especially when it grooves as much as in the opening piece, "Paramatman", or when the full and warm voices collide before launching into a burning mantra of intensity, as in the bewitching "Mekench Mouchkel". The soul is there and maturity is knocking at the door. --Frederic Murphy
