Details: Product Description Lapalme, Martin Amazon.ca Collaborator of Mononc' Serge, Robert Charlebois and Mara Tremblay, Martin Lapalme leads a solo career which, although discreet, is very interesting. Without tweezers, it offers a caustic vision of urban life, going here from garage rock with psychedelic accents, borrowing there from country and blues. His impressionist poetry takes on the appearance of a flower growing on the macadam: beauty rubs shoulders with ugliness, happiness, pain. The energetic "Pitié", with its incisive guitars, denounces the paradoxes of modern society. "Alpha Centauri's First Welfare Recipient" chronicles the delirium tremens of a welfare recipient, while "Kindergarten" is a folksy-tinged catharsis where painful childhood memories come to the surface. The thick world of Lapalme is peopled with small miseries and may seem off-putting at first glance, as the singer avoids all censorship. However, it remains no less endearing and seduces with its undeniable frankness. Fans of Fred Fortin and WD-40 will appreciate. --Nicolas Houle
