Details: Amazon.ca Theme songs from children's shows have always had a mysterious power with every generation. Whether we like it or not, these little jingles stick in our brains for the rest of our lives. The 14 Quebec alternative rock or metal groups gathered on Flashback seem to have lent themselves to the game of reinterpretation with a mischievous pleasure. There are particularly heavy re-readings such as “The Mysterious Cities of Gold”, by Overbass, “Goldorak” by Obliveon, “Captains Scarlet” and “Flam”, by Voïvod and Vulgar Deli, “Transformers”, by Ghoulunatics, but also others, more fun like “Bobino”, by ArseniQ33, “Mario Bros”, by Redcore, “The Flintstones”, by Subb, “Inspecteur Gadget”, by Collectivo, “Bedrock Twitch”, by the Kingpins or “Star Blazer”, by The Planet Smashers. The result is uneven, but always entertaining and surprising, and imbued with a good dose of innocence despite the inevitably muscular genre. Sacrilege or festive diversion?
