Composer Bernard Poirier, musician and musical director of several Quebec formations including La Fanfare Pourpour (Everyone), has created for the occasion a rich and complex universe that sometimes recalls circus music, sometimes klezmer rhythms, sometimes felliniennes by Nino Rota. Percussions, clarinet, saxophone and accordion take center stage, supported, in the most uplifting moments, by the electric guitar or, in the more melancholic passages, by the keyboards. Thirteen experienced musicians lend their talent to this colorful musical experience. The voices of Lou Babin and Catherine Granger add nuances and expressiveness to this album which resembles the animal to which it pays homage: full of passion, elegance, beauty and quiet assurance. --Julie Sergent
