Details: Amazon.ca We know Clint Eastwood's taste for jazz since, among other things, his film on Charlie Parker, Bird. For the soundtrack of his elegant melodrama Sur la route de Madison, he has chosen to recall to the memory of the general public two great talents who have disappeared from vocal jazz: the singer-pianist Dinah Washington and especially the lesser-known Johnny Hartman, baritone crooner, who had its heyday with a cult album with John Coltrane for the Impulse label! The songs selected are slow and overwhelming ballads: Dinah Washington gives a version of "Blue Gardenia", already sung by Nat King Cole in an eponymous film by Fritz Lang, while Hartman, accompanied by small ensembles dominated by piano or guitar, tenderly cradles the hesitant waltzes of the characters played by Eastwood and Meryl Streep. --Hubert Deshouse Product Description Girls Soundtrack
