Details: The young Marcel Pagnol and his family find themselves in the scrubland for the summer holidays. A great event is preparing: the bartavelle hunt. His father, a teacher and novice hunter, takes two game and returns covered in glory. Marcel participates in secret in this success with his friend Lili, the poacher. He is amazed by this Provence which resembles him... Yves Robert (The War of the Buttons, An Elephant That Deceives a Lot) had wanted to adapt Pagnol's Childhood Memories for a long time. It was not until 1990 that he was able to realize his project. My Father's Glory describes with poetry and tenderness the youth of little Marcel through his family holidays spent in the hills. Yves Robert carefully recreates the atmosphere of sunny Provence where we lulled to the sound of cicadas. Robert Alazraki's photography is beautiful and luminous. A lovely hymn to the joys of nature. --Marie-Sylvie Maufus
