Amazon.ca Fourth episode of the series, The Gendarme on a walk takes us back to a familiar universe: Saint-Tropez, the sun, the cicadas and the gendarmes, led by the illustrious chef Cruchot, all spiced up by the retirement of the troop. Times have changed: the fine team of six gendarmes is forced to retire, replaced by a new guard fresh out of school. Boredom and depression win the famous gendarmes until they discover the amnesia of one of them. To bring him back to reality, they will try to relive their past exploits. Their incredible adventures will lead them from a nudist beach to a summer camp, passing through a hippie community, leading them to the defusing of a nuclear bomb. In 1970, Jean Girault produced this entertaining family comedy by exploiting the usual gap between generations and between tradition and modernity. The excessively exaggerated situations, reminiscent of the era of burlesque, the Funès-Galabru tandem, with priceless facial expressions, as well as the cascade of gags serve as comic springs to this resolutely delirious film, where everything is possible. --Helen Faradji
