Details: Amazon.ca Four men--separated for a decade--reunite after the death of their curling coach. The cremation instructions require his ashes to be buried in a curling rock and for his teammates to reunite in hopes of capturing the one and only Golden Broom. OK--it isn't exactly the deepest plot in the ocean, but what were you expecting from Leslie Nielsen ( Spy Hard, Naked Gun)? As you would expect, Men with Brooms is occasionally charming and provides a few good chuckles. The opening five minutes alone border on an illegal amount of Canadian content (beavers destroying landscapes while "Land of the Silver Birch" plays in the background), making it clear from the outset that this flick intends to entertain, not educate. But it can't decide if it wants to be a romantic comedy or a full-on slapstick fest, and the mix of the two feels forced. That said, if you're craving a great soundtrack (The Tragically Hip, Sarah Harmer) and don't mind a not-too-taxing plot, this Broom’s for you. Nominated for two Genie Awards, including Best Leading Actress (Parker) and Best Screenplay. --Denise Sheppard
