Though this remarkable story is told in reverse, Nolan's innovative direction maintains a rapid forward momentum that keeps the viewer on the edge of his seat, waiting for new revelations. Memento is an unsettling, eminently engrossing examination of how memory (or the lack thereof) affects our lives and our relationships. It's unique in that it reveals more layers with every viewing.
