The first album of Canailles is in the image of the group: of a joyful and assumed bastardy. Juggling nonchalantly with a mix of blues, Cajun, bluecrass and folk, he sublimates the raw energy, sincerity and exuberance of the band, in addition to making us discover it in a more fragile and touching light.
Directed by none other than the fiery and brilliant Socalled and mixed by Philip Bova (Feist, Bell Orchester, Stars), Manger du bois is carried by a beautiful madness and polished until it shines loud and far, thanks, among other things, to the inspired addition (bright, bright, lit) by a few family friends, including Jérôme Dupuis-Cloutier, Benoît Paradis and Bernard Adamus.
It appeared on the Grosse Boîte label in April 2012. Manger du bois immediately won the prize for the only album in which the eponymous song did not appear. Reread the last sentence two or three times, it's exhilarating, but not as much as seeing Canailles in a theater. Reeeeeehiiiiii!
