Time clearly has little hold on Robert Charlebois. Highly relevant and as cool as ever at the dawn of his 75th year, he is releasing a 25th album: Et voilà.
It features ten new songs in which the artist looks back on his life with humor, melancholy, and poetry, as the man realizes that the years are flying by. This record thus marks many wonderful reunions.
First with Louise Forestier, who joins him for a duet where the magic happens once again; it is also about lost and found lyrics, including a particularly biting one from his friend Réjean Ducharme; it is the love he declares to women and, above all, to his own; it is a tip of the hat to two giants: Johnny and Elvis; it is Charlebois returning to rock 'n' roll with lyrics tailor-made by Simon Proulx! Gus Van Go and Werner F. produced the album.
It was surrounded by two young New Yorkers from the hip-hop scene, multi-instrumentalist Jesse Signer and keyboardist Chris Soper, that Robert Charlebois recorded Et Voilà at Boiler Room studios in Brooklyn.
This remarkable blending of generations and musical backgrounds proved prolific, resulting in a happy fusion of influences on every song on the record.
