Details: Amazon.ca If he is to be believed, Dan Bigras has ended his singing career. The compilation 1992/2002: Tout…, which brings together the songs the Quebec rocker hasn't disowned, therefore feels a bit like an event. On the menu: 18 tracks, including those that built his success and reputation, from "Tue-moi" to "Ange animal" (with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra), from "J'ai inventé le désespoir" to "Les Trois Petits Cochons". A tribute to all those—especially the women—who have accompanied him throughout his 10-year career, Tout… gathers several beautiful duets with Luce Dufault, Isabelle Boulay, Laurence Jalbert, Nanette Workman, Boom Desjardins, Éric Lapointe, and Rosalie Bigras, his niece. It is true that the artist loves to share the stage and the microphone, and that he is never more at ease than when surrounded by his accomplices. Bigras also treated himself to the luxury of making the songs of two other tormented souls his own—Jacques Brel ("La Chanson des vieux amants") and Léo Ferré ("Avec le temps")—and covering, following Serge Reggiani, the moving "Il suffirait de presque rien," three tracks that lend themselves superbly to his rugged lyricism. The result is highly seductive and captures the richness of the rocker's world, his inimitable voice—raspy, by turns cavernous and high-pitched—his intensity, and his true talent as a pianist. --Pascale Millot
