A true cinematic experience, his film interweaves times and stories, using unsettling flashbacks and flash-forwards, bathed in very raw, often overexposed lighting. The three worlds collide, each carried by an exceptional actor: Naomi Watts at her best, the charismatic Benicio Del Toro, and the always impeccable Sean Penn, who won the award for best actor in Venice for this role. Violent, harsh, and dark, 21 Grams is a film that is not easily approached but one that confirms the talent of both the filmmaker and his screenwriter, Guillermo Arriaga. – Helen Faradji.
