Much like Justin Timberlake's debut or a classic Janet Jackson track, it captures the kind of vibe that gets everyone from teens to seniors out on the dancefloor. 2U's lead-off single "Been Gone" brings back her trademark Nelly-esque staccato stylings, first heard on her debut disc's chart hits "Unpredictable" and "Bad Boy." Beyond those tracks, there are a handful of uptempo pleasantries (the Whitney-esque "Be About Yours" and Aguilera-influenced "Can't Believe") but much of the remaining disc is simple, predictable R&B. Chanté has the voice, timing, and maturity to attain megastardom. Whether or not she does depends on her ability to put together an album filled with world-class, cross-generational songs--rather than one designed to appeal exclusively to teenagers. --Denise Sheppard
