Details: Revisiting the universe of Julien Clerc through his most beautiful love songs, this is what this 19-track compilation offers, which draws its selection from his third album, Ce n'est rien en 1971, à Julien , the 1997 vintage. This thematic approach turns out to be less banal than it seems, so true is it that this true romantic knew how to inspire his many authors with some of the most beautiful declarations of love in French song. Seven are born from the surrealist poetry of Etienne Roda-Gil, from "The Girl on the Veranda" to "The Beautiful One Has Arrived" passing through the overwhelming marvels that are "I know it's her" and "To suffer through you is not to suffer". From the collaboration of Julien Clerc with Maurice Vallet is extracted the magnificent "Sans toi". The hits of Jean-Loup Dabadie, "My preference" and "Women... I love you", are of course present, while also appear the fruits of more episodic encounters: "J'aime ton corps" by Maxime Le Forestier , "The Adventures in Water" by David McNeil, "My Angel" and "Fais-moi une place" by Françoise Hardy, "Carabat" by Laurent Chalumeau, or even this poem dating from the 19th century by Marceline Desbordes-Valmore, "The Separated". So many songs that Julien Clerc has inhabited with his vibrant and warm voice, and that he has dressed in the excellence and originality of his compositions. --Sylvie Devilette
