Details: Product Description Vulgaires Machins Amazon.ca 24:40 and Regarde le monde helped Vulgaires Machins climb into the front ranks of Quebec's alternative bands. Aimer le mal, a firebrand album even more convincing than its predecessors, should solidify that position. Here, social discourse definitely takes precedence over the playful impertinence of their early days. And it is a pleasure to see the punk-rock quartet use its platform to harpoon human stupidity and do its part for popular education! Its targets are often obvious (politicians, the media, junk food, Capital with a capital C) and the themes sometimes worn, but the group's ability to be indignant in the face of indifference shows a fine idealism for an offspring of "No Future." That their rants are wrapped in such catchy songs doesn't hurt. The sound, clearer than before, multiplies the impact of the infectious riffs and punchy rhythms, while the melodies and vocal harmonies – the group's strengths – are further refined. Will they be able to do better? -- Frédéric Murphy
